A thorough inspection of the gas mask should be conducted before daily use. First, examine the mask body for damage, cracks, or signs of aging, and verify that the sealing gasket is intact and pliable to prevent contaminated air from leaking in due to a poor seal. Next, check the breathing valves to ensure they function correctly, allowing for smooth inhalation and exhalation without obstruction or damage. Additionally, inspect the installation of the filter cartridge or filtering assembly to confirm that connections are secure and free from looseness or irregularities. If any issues compromising protective performance are detected, the relevant components must be repaired or replaced promptly; a defective gas mask should not be used.
Cleaning and care after use are also crucial aspects of gas mask maintenance. After each use, the mask should be cleaned based on the level of contamination. Use a mild detergent and clean water to wipe the mask's surface; avoid highly corrosive chemicals that could damage the material. Pay special attention to critical areas such as the sealing gasket and breathing valves during cleaning to ensure no residue remains that could affect future use. Once cleaned, allow the mask to air-dry in a well-ventilated area; avoid exposure to high temperatures, direct sunlight, or strong heat sources, as these can accelerate material aging.
Inspecting and replacing filtering components is another key maintenance priority. Filter cartridges and filters gradually adsorb contaminants during use, and their protective capacity diminishes over time. Therefore, filtering components should be replaced in a timely manner based on the work environment, contamination levels, and product usage guidelines. Immediately stop using the mask and replace the filtering unit if you experience increased breathing resistance, detect odors inside the mask, notice damage to the filtering components, or reach the end of the specified service life. Furthermore, do not mix different types of filtering components indiscriminately; always select the appropriate model based on the specific contaminants present.
